Galactic Blast VBS 2010
Galactic Blast has started. Each day new photos are added for viewing enjoyment. Come see what is happening each day. As of Monday night we have had over 100 hits to the webpage.
At Galactic Blast, children will become cadets on the Starship Galactic Praise as we learn more about our wonderful, incredible, amazing, magnificent, and awesome God!
Each day we will have a high energy opening on the Starship and then send the cadets on spacewalks to the Good News Galaxy, Orbital Observatory, Moons & Tunes, Rocket Rec, or Cosmic Crafts. The Cadets will learn Praise Phrases and Bible Booster memory verses that will boost their faith long after VBS ends.
To be a part of this summer adventure, call the church office at 424-4273. If you have questions, ask for Beth Ehlers, Director of Christian Education and Commander of the Starship Galactic Praise.
Make VBS a BLAST and invite your friends to come, too! There is no charge to attend Galactic Blast. This is a mission of First Presbyterian Church. Donations will be graciously accepted.
On May 2, 2010 we celebrated the confirmation of four of our youths, Rain Eckholt, Brianna Grooters, Gannon Seeck, and Kyra Shirk. Pastor Paul's semon was in the form of a childrens sermon. The confirmands gathered on the sanctuary steps to listen to his reflections on life being like a Road Trip. They had been confirmed and this Sunday would be their last time to gather on the steps. In the tradition of past children sermons they created the payer circle. It was a moving day for many who have watched these children grow. Listen to the sermon, Road Trip.

Acts 16:5 Initiative
On Pentecost Sunday, we commissioned a group called the Acts 16:5 Vision Team. The Acts 16:5 Initiative is a three-year process that churches in our presbytery are undertaking in order to become more effective in what we are all about as a church. It is based on a process developed over time by E. Stanley Ott, former pastor of a Presbyterian church in Pittsburgh, and now president of the Vital Churches Institute. Stan has been meeting with representatives from congregations in our presbytery since October 2009, and serves as our coach and mentor in this process.
The purpose of this initiative is to assist and equip congregations in a deliberate process of transformation. The verse that this initiative takes as its motto is Acts 16:5, a summary statement in the story of how the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth and a handful of disciples expanded across the Middle East and into Asia Minor, touching live and changing the world. It says, “So the churches were strengthened in faith, and grew daily in numbers.”
