Easter Vigil

In March of 2007 we introduced a new worship experience called the Great Easter Vigil. This service, on the Saturday of Holy Week, serves as a bridge between the end of Holy Week, when we commemorate the suffering and death of Christ on the cross, and Easter, when we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, the victory over death, and the coming of light into the darkness of the world.
The word "vigil" may sound like an all-night prayer service, but this is not an Easter lock-in. Parts of the following description was taken from the Presbyterian Book of Common Worship.
